Throw Baldwin to the Dogs

I'm sorry -- but Alec Baldwin is sickening. Why doesn't this putz just shut up and spare America his pubic display of stupidity?

Meanwhile, television therapist Dr Phil McGraw revealed that Baldwin had called him for advice yesterday and that the two had a "far-reaching, intense conversation" about the actor's daughter and his former spouse.

Dr Phil, who offered on the CNN talk show Larry King Live to counsel the family, said Baldwin had given him permission to disclose that they had talked and that he also had "reached out privately" to Basinger.

Of course Baldwin gave him permission -- I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Baldwin PAID Phil to shill Baldwin's new-found concern for his daughter -- concern that is exemplified by the recordings of Baldwin screaming into her voicemail that she is a sub-human "thoughtless little pig".

No question that Baldwin needs therapy, and lots of it, but why do are we being exposed to these public mea cuplas? Why on earth does Baldwin think we care?

ijosha:

Your "Alec Baldwin is sickening" link is broken -- ("Page not found - /2007/04/27/href=")

Thanks, ijosha - fixed now. - Lee

What? No love for one of your "spokes-libs"?

horse:

He freeked out on his daughter and made a mistake and will have to make up her lost trust in him. His ex made this public to hurt him and he is just trying to reduce the damage, not that it will help much. But it is hard to fault him for playing this card considering all the "no responsibility" cards that get played continuously from his lefty compatriots these days. It's what they do when they fail, and they frequently get off.

It worked for that Imus fellow - or maybe not.

I dunno, horse - can you name some lefties who got away with something by publicly falling on their swords in this fashion?

horse:

Imus wasn't exactly a lefty, was he?

How about that Kennedy politco in DC who went into therapy after running into the police. Or the "Krammer" fella blaming Bush for his racial rant and going into therapy.

"Imus wasn't exactly a lefty, was he?"

He wasn't?!?! Conservative nutjobs on Wizbang kept saying he was (and I reluctantly agree -- apparently Imus supported John Kerry in the 2004 election, and although - like you - I assume all racist bigoted assholes are righties, maybe Imus was more of a lefty than a rightie).

The Kennedy ran into a barricade, didn't harm anyone, and needed rehab. No harm, no foul.

Kramer (Michael Richards) blamed Bush? Show me where he did that. I don't doubt it, but I'm skeptical -- and besides, I also don't think Kramer got away with anything, did he? Isn't his career as washed up now as it was before?

"but why do are we being exposed to these public mea cuplas? Why on earth does Baldwin think we care?"

Because you choose to blog on the subject ??

Paul Hamilton:

Lee: Did you happen to catch "Real Time" tonight? Bill Maher isn't nearly as offended as a lot of folks about this...

I did not catch "Real Time", but if Maher is blase on this I'm not surprised - I think he prefers his two dogs to children (see paragraph six):

"But I've often said that if I had -- I have two dogs -- if I had two retarded children, I'd be a hero. And yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing. What? They're sweet. They're loving. They're kind, but they don't mentally advance at all.... Dogs are like retarded children."

Back to Baldin -- I'm a father of four, and I guess I'm a little less tolerant of idiots like Baldwin -- especially when they get "victim-like"... sheesh.

Poor Alec got pwned by his ex-wife - poooor baby -- that makes what he said to his daughter any less despicable? Not in my book.

horse:

From your post I do not see Baldwin getting "victim-like". He screwed up, he's sorry for what he did, he has a lot more making up to do to a little girl, and he is going to be watched closely by all in the future for being an a-hole.

The "famous" often use public mea-culpas to let the public know they realize they screwed up. Baldwin is no different than the others. And many of these "famous" people are lefty dems (or just insane like Gibson).

Kennedy could have killed/hurt someone and he got off by appologizing and going to "therapy". Richards was blaming societal rage for his problems;

"There's a great deal of disturbance in this country and how black feel about what happened in Katrina,... And I'll get to the force field of this hostility, why it's there, why the rage is in any of us, why the trash takes place, whether or not it's between me and a couple of hecklers in the audience or between this country and another nation, the rage..."

I took it to be blaming Katrina and the war, so therefore indirectly indicating "Bush", which would play well with the Hollywood crowd.
