Much of what you see in the above "top secret development" is based on technology patented by Apple and developed/elaborated by the NYU Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
A quick look at what they were doing can be found here (this has been getting posted around since last year).
Jeff Han has since spun off Perceptive Pixel to develop/market all this wonderfulness.
