"Cold Cash" Jefferson Indicted on 16 Counts

MSNBC story:

Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., was indicted Monday on federal charges of racketeering, soliciting bribes and money-laundering in a long-running bribery investigation into business deals he tried to broker in Africa.

The 16-count indictment was handed up in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. A press conference was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET to discuss the case.

GOOD! If we are to deal with Republican corruption, we cannot tolerate it in our own ranks.

Paul Hamilton:

If a public servant is a crook, I want that person indicted, convicted and jailed. That is a matter that transcends partisanship.

Paul Hamilton:

I've got something dated Dec. 13, 2006. It's from my political chat board and reads as follows:

Jefferson kept off Ways and Means seat. Thank God. This committee will be a focus on investigations in 2007, and the last thing we needed was Jefferson holding a visible place on the committee that was investigating Bush.
