Sheehan Considers Run Against Pelosi

Townhall story:

Cindy Sheehan, the soldier's mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That's when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group's war protest site near Bush's Crawford ranch.

"Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership," Sheehan told The Associated Press. "We hired them to bring an end to the war. I'm not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn't be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money."

Any Democrat who doesn't think Sheehan is the Republicans' best friend just isn't paying attention...

Lee Ward:

The only thing funnier than moonbat Sheehan wondering out loud if she should she run for Pelosi's seat is seeing the wing-nuttiest on the right barking at the same moon, praying that it's true.

Paul Hamilton:

Or those who think that she'd win. Cindy's act got old long ago and this sort of thing is very ugly desperation by someone missing the spotlight.

Lee Ward:

You're right... I used to live and work in San Francisco -- the heart of the liberal beast -- and I know their politics well. As liberal as San Franciscans are they would not elect Mommy Moonbat to Pelosi's seat.

She "resigned" from the anti-war movement in a funk over not getting her way on the Iraq funding bill, and we now see her desperation surfacing in this move. I feel a "Shut Up and Sit Down, Cindy" post coming on....

As for the simple-solution seeking simple-minded right -- let them think Cindy would win. It'll give them something to cheer about in a time when they are seeing damn few victories...

Paul Hamilton:

She destroyed herself, Jay. You're probably right that she's disturbed, and her obsession with the spotlight is good evidence of that. And I don't blame Bush for this, but rather the Bush-obsessives, who would rather devote all their efforts to destroying a man who can't even run for office again rather than looking forward to seeking out the kind of candidate who can fix the mess that Bush has created and has the skills set to get elected.

Sheehan is another manifestation of the Ned Lamont complex which hit the party hard back in 2005 or so. They were totally focused on the war to the exception of everything else. And yes, the war is a disaster, but you can't just latch onto anybody who opposed the war and elevate them to mythic status. More rational eyes would have seen a problem with Sheehan that others were too war-blind to see.
