Who Sent You to the Hospital?

Senator Chuck Schumer asks a simple question, and it took Alberto Gonzales two minutes to not answer it. Who is he protecting?

Senator Schumer explains why all of this matters, in his March 13, 2007 call for Alberto Gonzales' resignation.

(4:40)

The calls for Gonzales's resignation continue, while the appointment of a special prosecutor is considered.

  • Yesterday: in Wizbang Blue: Gonzales Serves Up More Whoppers Than Burger King: "For those of you who missed the (full) testimony of Alberto Gonzales before the Judiciary Committee, I'd recommend making the effort to catch it on a C-SPAN rebroadcast. There's simply no way to adequately describe the whole scene: that creepy, evasive visage, calmly churning out falsehood after falsehood. You have to keep reminding yourself--this man is the attorney general of the United States. He is the physical embodiment of an idea. At this point no one, Democrat or Republican, would argue that he is highly qualified to hold the position he now occupies, that he is the obvious choice among America's legions of lawyers to be the attorney general."
  • Today in the Chicago Tribune: With no credibility left, Gonzales should resign: "The pressure continues to mount as Gonzales' credibility continues to shrink. His office is supposed to stand for truth and justice. The longer he stays in it, the more he subverts those values."
  • Today in the New York Times: Documents Dispute Gonzales' Testimony: "Documents indicate that eight Congressional leaders were briefed about the Bush administration's terrorist surveillance program on the eve of its expiration in 2004, contradicting sworn Senate testimony on Tuesday by Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales."
  • Today in the Kansas CIty Star: Gonzales' deceit is a disgrace: "It's time to bring down the curtain on an attorney general who can't seem to tell the truth. He's got all the credibility of an e-mail addressed "treasured sir" and asking for money."

It was Comey's intransigence that sent Gonzales to the hospital.

Eve of Spanish bombing, folks. If you think this has legs you are as desperate as Schumer. In a world without al-Qaeda, you'd have a chance.

kim:

Who sent Comey? Better, why did he set up the midnight run? It was completely unnecessary, and completely brought about by Comey. Is anyone asking Comey these questions? Maybe, someday.

Well, for starters, Comments 1 & 2 by Wizfool kim are sheer delusional. She (it) has been trying to pass off her Schumer & Comey crap on Wizbang for months. Now she's (it's) infecting Blue.

It is amusing to note on the main site, Lorie, the all-time major sufferer of DDS, has cooled a bit on politics this summer.

Not surprising that Lorie doesn't want to even begin to deal with Gonzogate. Even her slavering simpleton Wizpuppy, kim, would be of little help here.

It is telling that the wingnut bloggers have been so quiet about this. I think Fredo may be in some trouble finally. No one is defending him.

Lee Ward:

Bush stood by Rumsfeld, telling the American public that he thought Rummy was doing a great job -- until the day after the 2006 election -- at which time he turned 180 degrees on a dime and kicked Rumsfeld out. I expect the same will happen here - there will be no warning -- just lies one day, and resignation the next.

michael: "It is amusing to note on the main site, Lorie, the all-time major sufferer of DDS, has cooled a bit on politics this summer."

Few bloggers write for a living, so they have to fit writing in around the job, family, etc. Lorie is smart for taking a break now and enjoying her family. My children are grown but hers aren't -- and your children are by far a higher priority than this blog crap. I suspect Lorie will be back writing when it counts... as the primaries near.

This is my personal favorite excerpt from the hearing; a real groaner, plus those mysterious Other WH Intelligence Programs (those NOT confirmed) lurk within the narrative.

kim, When a Republican Atty Genl makes Schumer look good, it ain't Schumer's fault.

Blaming it on the long electon season. What election season? That really begins in the fall, now is just tiddly winks and pictures.

That was a poignant bowing-out, though.

My sudden bannination is making more sense!

They seem to want to keep it at 10:1 Bushbots instead of the more entertaining and natural 3:1 of yore.

Jay and company are attempting to create an echo chamber where the lies and misdeeds of the right can go unchecked. They now delete my commments regardless of the content.

That sure smells like admitting defeat to me.

Heralder:

I take breaks every so often. Sometimes things just get tiresome, that goes on both sides as I've mentioned before.

michael:

Bryan D & Lee

Bryan, have you been banned again? I have had many reincarnations since mak44 a long, long time ago.

-a great tool & only $29.95 http://www.hidemyip.net/

I know. Comments there are like a sewing bee now. Aunt Bea, Mrs. Cleaver, Opie, the Beav. All the boring characters. Trading recipes.

My sometime rival Mantis is good (and Jim, BG, etc), but a bit chatty. Not Irish enough. I want to see CCG cry again. His last reponse to me was "SHUT.UP." Now THAT'S good readin'!

Of course, he's all smarmy again now and publicly hemophilic lest his manhood be suspect. Sorry, CCG. Don't believe you, hon'.

THX. I'll check it out, but it's no big deal. Anyway, I can string public proxy servers from here to South Korea through Red China and back. The ol' internet connection route I would take in the wild west days of the WWW.
That would do the same thing wouldn't it? I'm a non-techie, but where there's a will, there's a way. (Unless you're Bush's English language tutor). But I'll check it out.

To show how cheap I am product-wise, since 1996, the only software I felt I HAD to buy was Newsbin Pro with a usenet account. I've tried to tell the WizPop girl to get some decent large format pix that way, maybe link to a free Kodak gallery account (or cycle them as space requires), but nooooo! Stay on the sidelines then! Let Lindsay's freckles go uncounted! Hi-res girl pix = traffic. Just tryin' to he'p!

kim:

bD, as usual, is right.

Fredo just ducked when the searchbeam from the mount of evil peered at him. I'm tellin' ya, McNulty overplayed his hand; Bush is on to Schumer. If this wasn't rope a dope, I'm a dope. The Gang of 8, that's half Democrats, had been playing right along with the Administration on this NSA business.

Schumer's got bupkus. Watch that tape again, Gonzo smirks at him.
=========================

michael:

hey kim, get over your delusional Comey, McNulty conspiracy crap, you silly twit(sp?). ( I never can remember whether that word is spelled w/ an "a" or an "i.")

Check this out from Redstate and cease making an ass of yourself.

Lee Ward:

"Gonzo smirks at him."

No, silly, his cheeks are puffy from the nuts he's storing for the cold winter he'll have - unemployed.

kim:

m, it looks like pejman plagiarized the Captain, who is wrong now and then. Gonzo is de man; he may be who figured out Schumer.
====================================

kim:

What does Pelosi say?
============

bryanD:

Holy frijoles! I read michael's link and discovered "Fredo" is the name the Towel Snapper in Chief ACTUALLY pinned on Gonzo! (I didn't know! That's COLD, post-Godfather I and II.)

That is one hateful, passive-aggressive, spoiled little chimp, that Bush! Does he make Fredo carry him on his back across the office on occasion? Obviously sublimating his own self-loathing through projection on others and the world.

"kim==
If this wasn't rope a dope, I'm a dope."

Rope a Dope is a terrible tool. Ask Muhammad Ali. Hint: That isn't REALLY Alzheimer's that afflicts Ali. The guy is 180-proof punch drunk from his 1974-1978(?) rope-a-dope years.

About the "smirk". It was an Ave Maria at x300 speed.

michael:

Hey bryanD..glad to havew inadvertently turned you onto that. Hope you haven't bedded down before this post.

Did you know that the chimp's term of endearment for Rove is "Turd Blossom?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nicknames_used_by_George_W._Bush

kim:

bD, the Mighty Cassius is Parkinsonian, from trauma. But political rope-a-dope differs from the physical. It's more like bluffing a bad poker hand while holding a good one.

Anybody find what Pelosi has had to say yet? Is she wondering about the effect Schumer's Dog and Pony shows are having on the credibility of this Democratic Congress?
=============================

kim:

bD, in case you haven't noticed, it is Bush who is carrying Fredo on his back.

He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
=========================

kim:

Anybody seen the Opinion Journal, today?
