Every so often it's good to be reminded of the far right neocon 'vision thing'. 'Freedumb' for George W. may no longer be 'on the march' in the Middle East, but that hasn't deterred some of the neo-con's far right's more lurid camp philosophers, from their wildest and most morbid dreams.
Family Security Matters is a front group for Frank Gaffney's 'Center for Security Policy', a leading if not the leading neo-con think tank. Philip Atkinson, thinking 'the unthinkable' wrote 'the unwritable' and FSM put it on their 'must read' list, before reconsidering and pulling it. Here is a small taste of what Atkinson had written, before he became a non-person.
The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead.
The simple truth [is] that modern weapons now mean a nation must practice genocide or commit suicide.
By elevating popular fancy over truth, Democracy is clearly an enemy of not just truth, but duty and justice, which makes it the worst form of government.
If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results....
President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming "ex-president" Bush or he can become "President-for-Life" Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court.
It would be nice if someone from FSM or one of Gaffney's men: Elliott Abrams, (Bush policy chief in the Middle East), Richard Perle or Douglas Feith disowned Philip Atkinson forcefully and eloquently, but that would require some self knowledge and also knowledge of the limits of reality and American power, that none of these men wish to entertain, while there are still 500 days left in the Bush presidency, (I hope).
