The Evidence Has Been Removed from Public Sight

Think we couldn't end up with another Republican administration as dishonest as GWB 43?

Think again...

By now you've probably caught the news about Senator Larry Craig's (R-Idaho) recent arrest and guilty plea in connection with an incident in a Minneapolis Airport restroom. The undercover policeman who made the arrest was allegedly solicited by Craig.

The June, 2007 arrest was made as part of a sex sting operation. One report I read stated that Craig was seated in the bathroom stall next to the cop and was observed tapping his foot "which [the arresting officer] said he "recognized as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct." Craig plead guilty, but is now recanting the charges.

According to articles written by those who've seen the police arrest report, Craig also handed the arresting officer a business card that identified him as a member of the Senate. "What do you think about that?" Craig is alleged to have said.

What is now emerging is that Craig is a huge supporter of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and up until a few hours ago a YouTube video posted by the Romney campaign folks was available which featured Craig speaking glowingly in support of Romney's "very strong family values."

Once reports of Craig's arrest surfaced on the web yesterday the Romney campaign removed the video.

Politico.com's Jonathan Martin picks it up from here:

A clip of Craig praising Romney was until just moments ago available on Romney's YouTube channel, but is now listed as "a private video."

Explaining why he's backing Romney, Craig says in the video that it's in part because "he has very strong family values."

"That's something I grew up with and believe in," Craig explains.

In February, the Romney campaign announced that Craig and Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) would serve as co-Senate liaisons for the effort.

"It is an honor to have the support and leadership in the United States Senate of Sen. Bennett and Sen. Craig," Romney said in the press release accompanying the announcement. "Throughout their years of service, they have compiled strong conservative records and have accomplished much for the people of their states and their nation. Both men have a unique perspective of the new generation of challenges confronting our nation. I look forward to working with them to find the solutions needed to ensure that our country remains a strong world leader." [...]

BTW, rumors of Craig's homosexuality didn't just pop up last year. Then-Rep. Larry Craig went on network news in 1982 to deny rumors involving cocaine and sex with male pages.

Another lying 'family values' conservative hypocrite caught with his hand in the ... well, errh, never mind.

That's a screen capture of the results of a Google Search for the clip removed by Romney.

Craig's arrest doesn't speak well of Romney's ability to choose his associates. Romney's removal of the video doesn't speak well of his willingness to be honest and open with the American people.

How very Republican...

Allen:

Both political parties have sicko's in their party. But after all the years of claiming they were the only party of "family values", it does make a person wonder what those values are.

Some how someone will claim it's just like what Clinton did. Can't wait to see how they SPIN this one.

Lee Ward:

There's a lot you don't get" Nightmare, and you just make it up and lie instead.

And I understand it, Sen. Craig voted against gay marriages. Now if he's gay, as you suggest, why would he do that?

And why would this man talk about the fine upstanding "family values" qualities of Senator Romney, as the same time he apparently was cruising airport bathrooms?

I'm sure you don't understand these questions either, so feel free to make up your answer... - and be sure to avoid the topic of the post and just find someway to lie and bash the writers on this site instead. That's working real well for your fellow trolls who've been banned from here.

LiberalNitemare:

And I understand it, Sen. Craig voted against gay marriages. Now if he's gay, as you suggest, why would he do that?

-- Unless the supposed tryst took place in the bathroom of a gay wedding chapel, I just dont see the connection. Your a bright guy, maybe you can explain it to me.

And why would this man talk about the fine upstanding "family values" qualities of Senator Romney, as the same time he apparently was cruising airport bathrooms?

-- Are you saying that Mitt Romney is gay? how exactly could you draw that conclusion?

--As an aside, I challenge you to find anything in my post that suggests that Sen Craig is gay. My claim was that Liberals hate gay people. In your response you attempted to "out" Mitt Romney. seems pretty hateful to me.

Lee Ward:

So your comment about liberals hating gays had nothing to do with Senator Craig (the subject of this post) at all?

It was just a put down on liberals? -- no problem then, I'll delete it as being a troll comment off topic.

there, Done. On to point two...

I asked about Senator Craig, the subject of this post: "And why would this man talk about the fine upstanding "family values" qualities of Senator Romney, as [at] the same time he apparently was cruising airport bathrooms?"

And you ignored the question, and replied "Are you saying that Mitt Romney is gay? how exactly could you draw that conclusion?"

Now, before i delete that comment, I'll give the opportunity to explain why you would falsely claim that I was saying Mitt Romney was gay -- or was that just another off-topic troll comment too?

If you can't explain this 'misunderstanding' on your part I'll delete that troll comment as well. That will make two strikes, and you know what happens with the third strike - in fact two strikes here tonight will give me enough impetus to go back and check your other comments posted here, at which point if I find another third troll from you I'll have the pleasure of banning you from this site... so weigh your answer carefully liberalnightmare...

Why are you claiming that I suggested Mitt Romney was gay?

Lee

Don't know if you've seen the Craig endorsement of Mutt Romney but it still exists at this link.

Since this Craig thing has legs as far as Chicken Lips McConnell calling for some sort of ethics review, it could be apropo to label this affair as Toilategate.

michael:

Make that "Toiletgate."

Lee Ward:

Toiletgate - good idea.

Of course the video resurfaced. Mitt's deletion of the video was a dumb move -- you can only hide the truth for so long. And for Senator Craig, pleading guilty then suggesting your are innocent later is a dumb move also.
