Pentagon Shock 'Three-day Blitz' Plan for Iran

'The Sunday Times' in London has a shock lead headline, 'Pentagon three-day blitz plan for Iran' and the dramatic story

THE Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians' military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.

Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for "pinprick strikes" against Iran's nuclear facilities. "They're about taking out the entire Iranian military," he said.

Debat was speaking at a meeting organised by The National Interest, a conservative foreign policy journal. He told 'The Sunday Times' that the US military had concluded: "Whether you go for pinprick strikes or all-out military action, the reaction from the Iranians will be the same." It was, he added, a "very legitimate strategic calculus".....(and what about the rest of the Muslim world?)

!ran has met a key target for its nuclear programme and now has 3,000 centrifuges enriching uranium, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said earlier this weekend. In the BBC report:

"A recent International Institute for Strategic Studies report said if Iran could operate 3,000 centrifuges smoothly, one bomb could be produced within nine to 11 months".

Despite this, most analysts believe Ahmadinejad is exaggerating his centrifuges' strength. The IAEA suggested last week that Iran had 1,968 operational centrifuges'. This seems to be another game of Arab, or in this case, Persian bluff. You remember Saddam said he lied about his potential to have WMD, in order to deceive and deter the Iranians.

Bluff or not, it is a dangerous set of calculations that could be leading to 'Countdown to Midnight in Persia'.

Day after day, almost hour by hour, fresh confirmation comes of the impending American attack on Iran. Yet the same surreal malaise that hung over public affairs before the war of aggression against Iraq has descended again. Everyone knows the war is coming and nothing will stop it

Even Congress appears that it is playing the same part that it played in the run-up to Iraq by giving. 'The Senate's Blank Check for War on Iran', "a 97-0 July vote, to give George W. Bush a clear and unmistakable casus belli for attacking Iran, the bipartisan amendment to the Defense Authorization Act, confronting the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran over its proxy attacks on American soldiers in Iraq".

It all looks like a replay of what happened from October 2002 to March 2003, with the intransigent Ahmadinejad replacing the equally intransigent Saddam; otherwise the same protagonists are playing their ineluctable roles: Bush, Cheney and Congress. The only certainty is that when and if the 3 day Pentagon blitz plan is put into practice; chaos, death and destruction will reign in Iran, and America and Israel will face a full and incalculable Muslim backlash (particularly Shiite) in Iraq, in the Middle East and elsewhere.

I doubt Bush can rally enough support for an attack on Iran unless some major event implicates Iran in terrorism against the mainland U.S. But in the future, an interesting source points to a massive war caused by Iran that kills 2/3 of all mankind.

The Old Testament Jewish prophet Ezekiel wrote what would become the book of the entire history of the Jewish people. In Ezekiel 37-38 he details a massive future war with Iran(Persia) and allies from Russia and the Mideast overrunning much of Israel before losing the war. It is intesting to note that the birthrate among Muslims in Russia is so large that they could eventually mathematically become the majority group within Russian society at some point in the future. But probably for not at least 40-50 years. This could shift political power in that nation.

Israel has a military strategy inspired by the story of Samson in the Old Testament, who could not escape his captors, but used his great strength to kill himself and captors both. "The Samson Option" military strategy of Israel is designed to destroy the entire Mideast with nuclear weapons so that no one wins control of Israel. Israel has nuclear land mine trenches dug to destroy hundreds of Syrian tanks in a single blast if they should invade from the North for example. And the release of so much nuclear explosives so close in the Mideast will likely result in the loss of life to all parties, both Jewish and Muslim, should a serious war result.

Ezekiel did accurately predict the 1948 reestablishment of a Jewish state and in fact has been 100% accurate on all matters he predicted so far even though his book was written in the 22 year period between 593 and 571 BC. For this reason, this important Jewish scholar must be considered the definitive author of the history of the Jewish people and their place in the Mideast.

It does not seem likely that events are moved along enough that some huge war with Iran and Russia will happen in the very near future. Both countries will require more political changes and bigger armies and more nuclear weapons before that happens. But the writings of the Jewish historian and prophet Ezekiel do open up an alarming vision of the future, and political and military events in Iran and Russia seem to be adding credibility to these writings. Interesting material to ponder.

Steve Crickmore:

Interesting historical prophesy, Paul..I don't think Bush will need a major incident however. I'm sure the Bush administration is capable of escalating or manufacturing and converting a minor incident into a major incident. If the USA does attack Iran? and it likely will be a hard and massive one as the 'Sunday Times' article indicates, Iran's main miitary and nuclear fuel supplier, Russia and Iran's main trading partner China will be very angry at the US...There is sure to be some sort of retaliation, and military build-up, not to mention a reaction in Europe with our putative allies (the UK won't be so eager to support us, this time) and of course the Middle East will be very roiled, fundamentalist Muslim extremists will be up 'in arms' our atrap Shiite government will completely turn against us etc. etc. It doesn't make much sense, but Bush may feel he needs something more dramatic than a stalemate or quagmire in Iraq, to save his presidency and help the Repubicans in 2008?
