On Labor Day it is important to reflect on the positive support that working people once felt from having a strong friend in the White House:
"All that serves labor, serves the nation. All that harms is treason....if a man tells you that loves America, but hates labor, he is a liar..."-----President Abraham Lincoln
"If I were a worker in a factory, the first thing I would do would be to join a union" ----President Franklin D. Roosevelt
"The right to join union of one's choice is unquestioned today, and is sanctioned and protected by law" ---President Harry S. Truman
"The American Labor Movement has consistently demonstrated it's devotion to the public interest. It is, and has been, good for all Americans" -----President John F. Kennedy
How times have changed. Working people no longer have a friend in the White House offering them support. But politicians always want the support and the votes of the working people.
