Nuns Call For Bush Cheney Impeachment

Just a brief news item (h/t bluegal @ Crooks and Liars) to start your day off right...

"The National Coalition of American Nuns is impelled by conscience to call [on Congress] to act promptly to impeach President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for ... high crimes and misdemeanors," the group wrote in a letter written on behalf of its board members.

The letter says that impeachment is warranted for their "deceiving the public under the false pretense that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction" and "destroying" the reputation of the United States and the good will of other nations.

"The time for impeachment is now -- before the example of George W. Bush's regime is set in stone," they wrote. "Future generations will thank you for preserving the freedom of our nation and its relation to the entire human community."

Actually, I'm a bit surprised... since Dick Cheney's clenched-jaw demeanor reminds me of the Batman television series character "The Penguin"... and nun's habits are somewhat penguin-like...

Ok, I'll stop now. This isn't punny at all, and that "hissing" sound is getting louder and louder, but think about it -- have you ever seen Burgess Meredith and Dick Cheney in the same room at the same time?

Paul Hamilton:

I googled this group and on their front page, they're talking about a conference they will host:

"Workshops which include topics of Political Ministries, Community Building Ministries, Ministries of Feminist Theology, Spiritualities for Justice Ministries, and Gender and Racial Justice Ministries."

IOW, they're screwballs.

Lee Ward:

Some people might think the actions of Bush and Cheney are a bit screwy too - there seems to be a lot of that going around these days.

But I've learned that one person's Community Building Ministry is another person's Wacko Conspiracy Theory - to each their own habits...

Technically, weren't we in a declare war because of (text of law in name):

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-338)

As far as I know, it was never repealed... Pres. Clinton never declared victory (or surrender).
