No President Left Behind

Do As I Do... Not As I Say -- No, wait, that isn't right.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do?

Nope, wrong again.

During his first presidential campaign, Bush -- who promised to be the "education president" -- once asked: "Is our children learning?"

On Wednesday, Bush seemed to answer his own question with the same kind of grammatical twist.

"As yesterday's positive report card shows, childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured," he said.

The White House opted to clean up Bush's diction in the official transcript.

Is Doofus spelled with one Duh or two...?

UPDATE: A friend emailed me and asked if I thought voters in the United States are getting the message that in the November, 2008 elections we, the people of the United States, need to set our standards high(er) as well?

Judging from the electorate's view of President Bush's 'results' as measured in the polls on his approval rating, I am encouraged to believe we will.

Herman:

There have been times that I've wondered whether Bush does these things on purpose. Surely, no one could be this dumb!!! Perhaps his goal is to trick his base into thinking that it is smarter than Bush, Bush believing that many conservatives feel better about themselves in thinking that they're smarter than the President of The United States. Liberals want a president smarter than they are (e.g., FDR and JFK), conservatives want a dummy (e.g., Reagan and Bush).

Whether Bush really currently has an IQ below 70 or is foolishly trying to deceive people, in either case Bush is an idiot.
