Four Gay Men Admit to Sex with Larry Craig

Larry_Craig.jpgLarry Craig (R-estroom) is having a bad year. The Idaho Statesman newspaper reports today that four gay men are going on the record as having had sex with the "I'm not Gay" Senator.

David Phillips. Mike Jones. Greg Ruth. Tom Russell.

Four gay men, willing to put their names in print and whose allegations can't be disproved, have come forward since news of U.S. Sen. Larry Craig's guilty plea. They say they had sex with Craig or that he made a sexual advance or that he paid them unusual attention.

They are telling their stories now because they are offended by Craig's denials, including his famous statement, "I am not gay, I never have been gay." Those words, spoken on live national TV on Aug. 28, are now memorialized on a just-released-for-Christmas Talking Senator Larry Craig Action Figure.

David Phillips is a 42-year-old information technology consultant in Washington, D.C., who says Craig picked him up at a gay club in 1986 and that they subsequently had sex.

Mike Jones is a former prostitute who told the world he had sex with the Rev. Ted Haggard last year. The former Colorado Springs evangelist at first denied it but eventually confessed. Jones says Craig paid him for sex in late 2004 or early 2005.

Greg Ruth was a 24-year-old college Republican in 1981 when he says he was hit on by Craig at a Republican meeting in Coeur d'Alene.

Tom Russell, now 48, is a former Nampa resident who lives in Utah. Russell said his encounter with Craig occurred at Bogus Basin in the early 1980s.

The second funniest thing to arise out of this revelation will likely be Larry Craig or his defenders claiming that it's some sort of liberal conspiracy to run Craig out of office.

The funniest thing will be the number of Republicans actually gullible enough to believe it.

We'll have more on the family-values hypocrisy here at Wizbang Blue as this latest portion of Craig's wide-stance saga unfolds over the next few days. Welcome back, Senator Craig, we missed your rank hypocrisy and out right lies.

Update: Senator Craig released the following statement in response to the allegations published in the Idaho Statesman yesterday:

"It is unfortunate that the Idaho Statesman has chosen to continue to lower itself to the standards of what can best be described as tabloid journalism. Like its previous coverage, these latest allegations are completely false and have no basis in reality. In fact, the paper itself states that these baseless accusations contain no definitive evidence yet they still decided to print them anyway. However, despite the fact the Idaho Statesman has decided to pursue its own agenda and print these falsehoods without any facts to back them up, I won't let this paper's attempt to malign my name stop me from continuing my work to serve the people of Idaho."

Steve Crickmore:

Craig seem to have definitely lost the Republican log cabin support which he could have acquired, had he come out publicly. It sounds as if, by all counts, he was rarely in the closet either..What a pass he has come to? Since the GOP is the party or pro guns, pro God but defiantly anti gay... Craig is definitely up the proverbial creek without a paddle. And the army won't even take him in.
