Romney Continued to Employ Illegal Aliens

romney_landscaper

A year after the original story revealing Mitt Romney's embarrassing employment of illegal aliens to do landscape maintenance at his home Mitt is once again in the spotlight for doing the same thing again -- with the same company.

Standing on stage at a Republican debate on the Gulf Coast of Florida last week, Mitt Romney repeatedly lashed out at rival Rudy Giuliani for providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants in New York City.

Yet, the very next morning, on Thursday, at least two illegal immigrants stepped out of a hulking maroon pickup truck in the driveway of Romney's Belmont house, then proceeded to spend several hours raking leaves, clearing debris from Romney's tennis court, and loading the refuse back on to the truck.

In fact, their work was part of a regular pattern. Despite a Globe story in Dec. 2006 that highlighted Romney's use of illegal immigrants to tend to his lawn, Romney continued to employ the same landscaping company - until today. The landscaping company, in turn, continued to employ illegal immigrants.

Two of the workers confirmed in separate interviews with Globe reporters last week that they were in the country without documents. One said he had paid $7,000 to a smuggler to escort him across the desert into Arizona; the other said he had come to the country with a student visa that was now expired. Both were seen on the lawn by either Globe reporters or photographers over the last two months.

Questioned this afternoon during two campaign stops in New Hampshire about the use of illegal immigrants on his property, Romney declined to answer. An aide said he would issue a statement, and Romney, emerging from a Concord restaurant, said, "Did you hear him? We'll give you a statement."

Excuse me, but it's pretty fracking ridiculous for Mitt Romney to assert that he can keep illegal aliens from crossing our borders... when he can't keep them out of his own front yard.

solorunner:

He hired a company to care for his lawn THAT HIRED illegals. He is no more culpable then you buying a burrito from Chipotle and some illegal serves it up does that mean you hire illegals?

Lee Ward:

He hired a company that he knew had hired illegals in the past, and in light of the first embarrassment you'd think he'd make sure he didn't get embarrassed again - but Romney just isn't that smart.

So Company A does a great job landscaping your lawn. You find out they had hired illegals.

The nice little liberal newspiece fails to mention whether Romney knew, and if the company took action.

Say they took action and got rid of the original illegals. Would you completely boycott the company? If they did a fine job, why not use their services again?

Second time around, learn your lesson, and stop using the company.

"Despite a Globe story in Dec. 2006 that highlighted Romney's use of illegal immigrants to tend to his lawn,"

Moronic liberals. It's not like he went over the border, got them, and proceeded to pay them to work on his lawn.

THE COMPANY is at fault.

Uhm, because they're lawbreakers?

No, wait - it must be a trick question...

Nope, final answer. The landscaping company broke the law by hiring illeqals, Romney knew that and he used them anyway.

The result proves it was a poor choice on his part.

Very poor judgment for an executive... very poor.
