Barack Obama has openly changed his style of late, eschewing his usual highfaluting oratory for some down-home straight talk of his own in Pennsylvania, now favoring Townhall gatherings to packing the stadiums as he has for his big tent revival meetings of the past.
Now we can see the danger of Barack Obama actually talking about the issues. Bottom-line - he sucks at it.
First, Obama knows and acknowledges that John McCain's statement about staying in Iraq for the next 100 years relates to maintaining a Korea-like peacekeeping-monitoring presence. For example:
Question: "But I think that [Sen. McCain] talks about it in the spirit of Germany and Japan..."
Obama: "And we've been in South Korea for 50 years. And he's used that as an example..."
At the end of the exchange Obama admitted that he understands McCain is talking about the Korean style bases and not a hot war like Iraq, "Well we've been in South Korea for 50 years and he's used that as an example as George Bush has and that is decades and we're spending 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq right now.
We're not spending 10 billion dollars a month in Korea, so Obama's argument is specious, and amateursville, if not out-right laughable.
But Mighty Mouth Obama marches on...
...[R]ather than sticking to an airtight retelling of McCain's words, Obama deviated from McCain's comment on more than one occasion.
This is how Obama characterized McCain's position during a Feb. 9th town-hall meeting in Bangor, Maine: "And when it comes to foreign policy, John McCain says he wants to fight a hundred-year war, a hundred years he says, as long as it takes. That is not designed to make us safe that is simply stubbornness. That is designed to try to make a bad decision look better." LINK
More examples of Obama distorting the truth.
"When it comes to foreign policy, John McCain says he wants to fight a 100-year war--a hundred years, as long as it takes," channeling outrage from the crowd.
"That is not designed to make us safer," he continued, shifting the crowd to cheers. "That is simply stubbornness. That is designed to try to make a bad decision look better."
That isn't what McCain said at all, and it's so simple to put together the facts, side-by-side, and show that Obama is being a loud-mouthed fool and not addressing the facts.
It's clear, and becoming more painfully obvious day-by-day, as to why Barack Obama has avoided a toe-to-toe battle on the issues with Clinton, relying instead on 10,000 people roaring their approval in stadiums.
When it comes to Obama what you get is a religion, a cult-following of supporters, relying on distortion and in some cases out-right lies to move the agenda forward.
And now Barack Oabama has decided to address the issues. God help us Democrats...
