Dinosaur Republicans Can't Adapt

The first order of priority is still 'change'. Changing the way politicians do business in America requires clearing the decks of old-school relics that are unable to adapt to change -- and as 9/11 has shown America, Republicans are unable to cope effectively with the modern-day threats such as terrorism and asymmetrical warfare, and are ineffective (and largely uninterested) in terms of diplomatic skills.

And in addition to paying $4.00+ for gasoline, our nation is now burdened with debt, and the American dollar has fallen through the floor. Americans facing foreclosure are presented with a new threat... the prospects of oil-driven inflation, and the prospects of unemployment for some.

We have Republicans to thank for this, but if they want to fight rather than change our course is clear. Today Barack pledged to fight fire with... better fire.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, the old saying goes, but Barack Obama kicked it up a notch over the weekend.

"If they bring a knife to the fight," he told a crowd in Philadelphia Friday night, "we bring a gun."

Obama was responding to a man in the crowd who, as Obama described the tactics he expects from opponents this fall, shouted out "Don't give in!"

"From what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl," Obama went on, according to the pooled press report. "I've seen Eagles fans."

Set aside for a moment the dissonant sound of an urban lawmaker speaking lightly about guns.

Republicans came after Obama right away charging a different breach -- one of comity.

"Barack Obama's call for 'new politics' is officially over," said Tucker Bounds, a spokesman for Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Republicans still haven't "gotten it." We are changing politics in America despite their kicking and screaming protests. It's our time.

Republicans expressing doom the most as the result of change are those who are unable to change. Like the dinosaurs who's subsequent rendering to oil they covet, the usefulness of die-hard, lying Republicans lies in their legacy... they best serve as an example of what not to do, and the approach to government that just doesn't work anymore.

Americans are pledging to never allow this country to never fall under the hand of power-hungry ideologues like Geoge Bush and Dick Cheney ever again. They've lied their last lies...
