Sarah Palin's Witch Hunting Church Service

Interesting revelations emerging about Sarah Palin's religious practices.

On October 16, 2005, long before she vaulted to the national politics stage qualifying her for numerous photo opportunities with world leaders, Palin participated in a service at her church where she received a blessing against witchcraft. Palin was preparing for her run for the Alaska governorship at the time.

The following video was recorded at Palin's hometown church, the Wasilla Assembly of God.

A YOUTUBE video has surfaced showing Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from "witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office three years ago.

Governor Palin is shown standing with her hands open before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the Wasilla Assembly of God church as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft", the Associated Press reported.

"Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan," Pastor Muthee said as two attendants placed their hands on Palin's shoulders.

"Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus. ... Use her to turn this nation the other way around."

Liberal commentator Keith Olbermann offers the following interview and commentary.

Update: Palin's former pastor is a fun guy...

Pastor Ed Kalnin, the senior pastor of Palin's former Pentecostal church, has also come under fire for his comments. In 2004, he told church members if they voted for John Kerry for president, they wouldn't get into heaven. He told them, "I question your salvation."

The Assembly of God issued a statement online in response, which said Kalnin was "joking" when he suggested "Kerry supporters would go to hell." The statement went on to say: "We do acknowledge in hindsight that it was careless, and we do apologize for that. This statement is not written as a defense, but as a clarification."

....And my little dog, too? What a wacky choice Palin is. This is only the latest example of it. No wonder the McCain Campaign is limiting interviews by this right wing wacko vp candidate. But she seems to shoring up the "snake handler" voters though.

epador:

Too bad the blessing wore off...

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

Are you speaking in tongues, epador? How cool...

ExSubNuke:

Are you kiddin' me?!?!?!

The audio doesn't match the video, nor does it even show the attendants speaking. This is a farce.

Lee Ward:

Lip-sync problems are common with amateur produced YouTube videos, Exsub.

There are lots of videos available. I chose the shortest one, and maybe they all have lip-sync problems - but feel free to look at the others until you find one you like better.

Link - YouTube videos of Wasilla Assembly of God October 16, 2005 witch hunt blessing with Sarah Palin.

ExSubNuke:

Not to put too fine a point on it... but do you REALLY want to start judging the candidates by their respecitve pastors *coughReverendWrightcough*. Do you REALLY want to go there?

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

There's no choice in the matter, ExSub. The republican 527s will be rolling out the Pastor Wright TV ads any day now.

Juxtaposing those Wright images with Sarah's religious practices will be a joy. Dancing with snakes and speaking in tongues is so presidential...

ExSubNuke:

You seriously want to juxtapose the views of a VISITING PASTOR (as in "not a regular") of the VP candidate, with 20+ years of Racial Bigotry of Obama's REGULAR pastor?

Are you insane?!?!?!

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

"You seriously want to juxtapose the views of a VISITING PASTOR (as in "not a regular") of the VP candidate, with 20+ years of Racial Bigotry of Obama's REGULAR pastor?"

Yep - that plus the whole pentacostal movemen -- It's that whole "slam sladda babba ramma dahmba" talking in tongues stuff that gets my juices going.

And the snakes, don't forget the snakes. Dancing with snakes is sooo presidential...

"I didn't see any witch HUNTING, I saw asking for protection from witchCRAFT. "

Well, then you're not paying attention - Watch the Olbermann video.

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

"I'm going to ask that you amend that to reflect exactly what happened. "

sorry, I can't stop laughing...

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

Palin received a blessing from a witch hunter - a rather notorious one at that - and the purpose of the service was to dispel witches/witchcraft.

Wow, he gave ten sermons at her church? I thought it was one or two - thanks!

And there was Palin, right on stage with this Looney Bird - arms outstretched, receiving his blessing. I'd call that "participating" in a anti-witchcraft ritual, wouldn't you?

Show me Obama on stage during one of Rev Wrights, rants, Chad... much less a church service involving (lol!) witchcraft!

Lee Ward[TypeKey Profile Page]:

"Once again lee, oh, he's not on the video, so he wasn't there, right?"

The video doesn't confirm that he was there, and seems to confirm that he wasn't.

"C'mon, he admits he attended for 20 years, just cause he isn't on video doesn't mean he wasn't there."

No, he's been a member for 20 years. I've done a lot of reading on this subject, and I don't recall any statement by Obama that he's attended church there for 20 years.

So show us a link to back up that claim, Chad.

"just cause he isn't on video doesn't mean he wasn't there. He said he was"

Bullshit. Wrong again, Chad - Obama has stated that he was not in attendance when those rants took place.

So show us a link to back up that claim, Chad.

"Is she doing anything that violates anyone's right to worship as they choose? Is she? Cause I don't see it. "

Who said she was?

"And once again praying to protect someone from something is not "hunting". So yes, you are distorting what happened'

Whatever you say, Chad, you're apparently an expert on Pentacostal witch hunts - I'm not.

"Is she doing anything that violates anyone's right to worship as they choose?"

Her freedom of religion gives her the right to worship Moose Dung if she wants to - and my freedom of speech allows me to mock the crap out of her when she does.

"Yeah, we pray that God will lead him, and pray for his protection from evil influences. How is that not our right?"

See Moose Dung answer, above.

"There was nothing Overtly or Covertly infringing on anybody else's right to worship as they please."

Nobody said it was.

"A prayer for protection and blessing has absolutely nothing to do with HUNTING anything."

Ohh, CAPS - how impressive.

Quoting from above:

A YOUTUBE video has surfaced showing Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from "witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office three years ago.

Define "witchcraft" Chad. and feel free to explain why sarah Palin would need "protection from witchcraft".

They be hunting the demons "Shalma badda bing!" - and they be dancing with snakes "Donon barrabba dabba ding dong!" lol....

It's their right to do what they want in this regard. And my right to talk about it, mock it, make fun of it - and yes, call it a witch hunt if I so choose.

Shelby:

you know you are right... i would way rather have someone who cant remember whether they are a Christian or a Muslim... yes that is exactly what i want... someone to try to either negotiate or fund terrorists :) yay for obama! NOT
