More McCain Campaign Lies About TrooperGate Report

In a recent post I documented Sarah Palin's direct and deliberate lying to the press over the results of the TrooperGate investigation which found her guilty of violating Alaskan ethics laws.

Here' s more of the same deliberate lying -- Rick Davis, McCain campaign manager, lying on Fox News this past Sunday morning:

DAVIS: Let me tell you, this whole thing has been a kangaroo court from day one. ... The reality is there was absolutely no wrongdoing found in the report. 1,000 pages, an enormous waste of time and the best that they could come up with was no violation of any laws or ethics rules, but -

WALLACE: Wait wait. It said she violated the state ethics board.

DAVIS: But that she acted within her power and scope of authority as governor to do exactly as she did.

The report does not say that acted within the scope of her authority when she abused the powers of her office and violated state ethics law. That's another absolute lie.

The fact is that finding number one in the report (see page 8 of the pdf) is that Sarah Palin violated Alaska Statute 39.52.010(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act:

Finding Number One:

For reasons explained in Section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.010(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.010(a) states:

"The legislature affirms that each public officer holds office as a pubic trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust."

Davis claim that Palin was found innocent of any wrongdoing is total bullshit.

He's also lying about the timeline and partisanship of the investigation. The Alaskan Legislative Council has a Republican majority, and the Council voted unanimously to conduct the investigation one month prior to Palin's selection as McCain's VP running mate. Sarah Palin stated at the time that she welcomed the investigation. Davis' claim that this was a partisan witch hunt is another lie.

Allen:

Lee, OT McCain's campaign manager wants Obama to apologize for what someone else said. Someone supposedly compared McCain to Wallace. And then Davis mentioned that McCain was a POW when Wallace was spouting the hate crap.

Can you explain to everyone what the difference is between McCain and Wallace, and Obama, who was 8 years old, when Ayers was doing whatever.

It's funny in a way to watch the rats jumping the sinking ship. But don't forget all those registered voters who have been removed from the voting lists, no the electronic voting machines that will not count correctly.

And what new policy will McCain come out with today? He flip/flops on each position he spouts off about. WOW!

Kev:

It amazes me that you think a report that said Palin was within legal grounds to fire someone is more important and more scandalous than the Democrats close ties to the Fannie and Freddie folks who have so thoroughly screwed the American people. As for Allen's comment, if you want o see flip-flopping, take a peek at Obama. The guy hasn't kept the same position on anything- his positions depend entirely upon who he is talking to. It just floors me that you guys refuse to own up to your party's scandals, gaffes, etc. at all, period.

Allen:

Kev, in case you didn't know this, Fannie and Freddie Mac's do not give out loans, and do not have cash to give out.

Surprised about that, well most American's are, but it's the truth. And both parties are full of crooks, that is also the truth. The GOP are just bigger crooks than the Demo's.

Obama still talks about change, McCain, hell all he does is inflame his dumb base on claiming Obama hangs with terrorist.

Explain that, would you please!
