Right Wing Racist Rush Limbaugh Attacks Powell

ABC News:

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with.

"I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

Limbaugh's rating must be sagging - this will get the racist Republicans tuning back in - but I can't help but wonder if Limbaugh challenged Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman's endorsement of McCain as vigorously as he appears to be challenging Powell's endorsement of Obama....

I'm sure Limbaugh's challenge of Powell's integrity is not about race, right? Limbaugh must have had the same concerns when Lieberman endorsed McCain...

This is what has the racists upset:

More on Powell's reasons for endorsing Obama:

Powell said he made his choice to back Obama after watching both presidential candidates' reactions to the financial crisis that has gripped credit markets in recent weeks.

Calling the crisis a "final exam," Powell said he found McCain "a little unsure as how to deal with the economic problems that we were having, and almost every day, there was a different approach to the problem."

"That concerned me," Powell added.

After Powell's announcement, McCain told FOX News he considered Powell and himself "longtime friends" and that he respected him, but that the endorsement of his rival did not come as a surprise.

"I'm also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state: Secretaries [Henry] Kissinger, [James] Baker, [Lawrence] Eagleburger and [Alexander] Haig," he said. "And I'm proud to have the endorsement of well over 200 retired Army generals and admirals."

Tara Wall, the deputy editorial editor of the Washington Times, said that moderate and conservative Republicans have been skirmishing throughout this election year, and that the Powell endorsement had brought that fight into the open.

While it energized conservatives, McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a running mate may have alienated moderate Republicans like Powell, Wall said.

Powell said he did not feel Palin was ready to be president and that factored into his decision to endorse Obama.

"[McCain] took the calculated risk of putting Palin on the ticket to pacify the conservatives, and it did re-energize the base. And for that reason, you're going to have some of those moderates within the party feel a little disenfranchised, and I think that was the case for Colin Powell," Wall said. "So it is significant. I think it does send a message to Republicans."

It seems to have brought out the worst in Rush Limbaugh and his fellow right wing racists. A transcript of a portion of Limbaugh's comments - after the fold:

From Limbaugh's website:

RUSH: I just want to button this up because the Drive-Bys had a tizzy over my allegation that his nomination was about race. Well, let me say it louder, and let me say it even more plainly. It was totally about race! The Powell endorsement is totally about race. People have forgotten, but I have not, ladies and gentlemen. Colin Powell publicly broke with the administration over affirmative action; specifically, affirmative action cases that were before the Supreme Court in 2003. It was a case in Michigan. I have the CBS story here, January 20th, 2003. "Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday he disagrees with President Bush's position on affirmative action case before the Supreme Court, as the White House called for more money for historical black colleges.

"Powell, one of two black members of Mr. Bush's cabinet, said he supports methods the University of Michigan uses to bolster minority enrollments in its undergraduate and law school programs. The policies offer points to minority applicants and set goals for minority admissions." That's why he doesn't want any more Republican appointments. He is pro-affirmative action. He is also pro-abortion, in case you had forgotten. Here's a quote from Colin Powell at the Republican National Convention August 12th, 1996. "You all know that I believe in a woman's right to choose, and I strongly support affirmative action, and I was invited here by my party to share my views with you because we are a big enough party and big enough people to disagree on individual issues and still work together for our common goal: restoring the American dream."

I don't know what happened to the tent. It's very, very small. He's not comfortable in it. I think he's still saying he's a Republican, by the way, after all of this, after endorsing Obama. But if anybody thinks that Barack Obama has the slightest intention of restoring the American dream, Secretary Powell, you have another think coming.

Typical racist charge against a Republican/Right Winger --- for daring to discuss race as a factor in anything ....... while Obama's pastor and Robert byrd are given a free pass............ ridiculous.

I don't think Limbaugh was saying anything that a vast majority of Americans (even Obama supporters) know to be a fact. There is no explanation for Powell's endorsement on strictly policy issues. Powell, although calling himself a Republican, is a Clinton style moderate, but is certainly not on the Far Left. Explain how the architect of the Iraq war and convinced apologist for WMD's can be hailed as supporting someone who has claimed that the Iraq war was a fraud, and that the claims of WMD's were fraudulent. Powell has never advocated a negotiation-based foreign policy, nor any of the policies that Obama supports. After that, what's left but race?

MrDecider[TypeKey Profile Page]:

Having heard Powell's speach and comments afterwards, he presented a number of excellent reasons to support Obama. The example of MaCain's lack of economic understanding in proposing The Real-Estate Giveaway by paying the FULL PRICE for risky home loans is one of many obvious examples.

If Powell was white and endorsed a white person, would that have been racist? Are the Whites that read this racist for supporting McCain? This race argumement cuts both ways.

But the most interesting aspect of Limbaugh's comments is his hypocritical argument. He LOVED Powell when Powel agreed with Bush on the war, etc. Now he explains Powell got special treatment in his rise up the ranks, and should be beholding and greatful. Be thankful to the Massa for being treated like a white person!

Right wing base hypocrisy surprises you?

These people have no integrity - they are political weather vanes - always pointing to pro-life, and swinging in whatever direction they need to in order to do "God's will"...everything else is just "politics."

The conservative movement died 8 years ago.

I listen to Rush only because I am waiting for him to slip and say the N word, he has been close about a thousand times. He wears it on his sleeve, heart, and mind, and it is not hard to see that he is a racist. Name one African American, Hispanic, Jewish radio personality in this country that gets away with comes out of his big fat racist mouth!

On the show yesterday he was quoting from an interview that Obama did while still a student in college, and just edited what he wanted to be aired, so he could build a big fat Limbaugh lie all around it. Yet when you go find the source from all of his insane commentary, and exposes into the untruth, you can quickly see that all he says are lies, lies, lies, and even more lies. Only other racists like him would support him, because no true, free thinking, intelligent American would even debate the fact that he is a racist pig that needs to be taken down out of the reach of the masses who don't believe his garbage and tirades!

Look at the link below that debunks all the garbage he has stated about Obama in his books, after slanting what he wants everyone to believe. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/o/obama-books.htm

Americans are smarter than that Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity! Go smoke your 500 dollar cigars, drink your thousand dollar champagne, cling to your million dollar associations in your exclusive circles, that any of your so called "faithful" listeners would not even be invited to any way.

you my blind, basic idiot, are as Un American as you can get!

Didn't Palin talk about using her office as VP to change and add to the Constitution? Didn't Palin also hand out to the people of Alaska a stimulus of oil profits from big oil companies? Didn't she say that most people see Alaska as a socialist state? So who has socialist, while Obama is being accused of being a socialist?

Go to Mars Rush if you don't like what goes on here in America, or maybe to Russia, N. Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, I'm sure they would love your fat mouth over there.

All facts! Facts! Unlike Rush! Not lies, not rhetoric, not attempts to boost ratings, Not racist commentary, not disrespecting Obama calling him Squirrel, not a fake plumber, or a fake attack in Pa. Come on people wake up and start thinking for yourselves!!!

I served this country proudly, and bravely with no malice, no hatred, no racism, just being a pure American, wanting to fight for his country and the freedoms it represents!
