Steve Schippert at our sister site Wizbang is claiming voter fraud in Philadelphia, breathlessly reporting misinformation and half-truths in a post appropriately titled "And So it Begins..."
Schippert links and quotes a conservative blog to support his claim -- not a link to a legitimate news agency but to a conservative blog -- and there's not a single quote or fact in the Townhall blog post to support Schippert's contention - it's all just some blogger's misinformation (emphasis mine):
GOP Election Board members have been tossed out of polling stations in at least half a dozen polling stations in Philadelphia because of their party status.
A Pennsylvania judge previously ruled that court-appointed poll watchers could be NOT removed from their boards by an on-site election judge, but that is exactly what is happening, according to sources on the ground.
And even though the Townhall post now has a legitimate news report attached to it updating this story with actual facts, documenting that both Republican AND Democratic Election Board Members are being asked to rotate in and out of polling places because of overcrowding, the misinformation efforts by Schippert are being augmented by Wizbang blogger Jay Tea in the comment thread.
Tea states the outright lie that Republican Board Members are being kicked out while Democratic Board Members are allowed to stay.
In Philly, what's happening is the Democratic observers are being permitted to stay, while the Republicans are being kicked out.
Only an absolute IDIOT would not see the problem there.
It's another Republican lie.
Watch the news report yourself.
"Everything is on the up and up here", reports Fox News on the very Townhall post Schippert linked to - and yet Wizbang bloggers Schippert and Tea continue to perpetuate lies, ignoring the news report from Fox News that appears on the very Townhall article they linked to.
And so it begins....
Bumped and Updated I: Four hours later -- still no correction or update from Schippert... in fact he's just repeated the "Republicans have been kicked out" lie in a subsequent post.
What we're seeing is an intentional deliberate campaign of misinformation by a right wing blog to influence voter sentiment on election day.
I emailed Wizbang publisher Kevin Aylward an hour ago about this. No response yet.
On the Townhall post linked to above the author has removed the embedded video news report from Fox News which explains that the story is false and replaced it with a link to the YouTube instead.
As the author of 1500 blog posts on Wizbang Blue and an extensive user of YouTube video embeds I can tell you from experience that the vast majority of Townhall readers will not click through to the link to get the factual, news update that it's all just a phony controversy.
The removal of the video embed from the Townhall post is, in my estimation, yet another part of the right wing blogosphere's effort at misinformation.
Thanks: Welcoming the readers from Crooks and Liars
Update: Wizbang publisher Kevin Aylward subsequently posted a link on Schippert's post to the Fox News report embeded above, but Schippert's uncorrected factual misrepresentations - like Kim Priestap's stunning pimping of the Ashley Todd story which was so obviously a hoax - stand as a testament to the partisan hackery exhibited by our sister site Wizbang in the days leading up to the 2008 election.
Note: Wizbang Blue is now closed and our authors have moved on. Paul Hooson can now be found at Wizbang Pop!. Please come see him there!
