Sarah Palin Promotes Senseless Wolf Slaughter

Sarah (Wacko Diva) Palin is getting the headlines she craves... I Guess.

When it comes to "senseless" killing Sarah Palin is a natural.

Governor Sarah Palin continues to push extreme methods to kill wolves and bears, seeking to eliminate hundreds of wolves this season through Alaska's aerial wolf killing program. Her state's Board of Game has even approved the killing of young wolf pups in or near their dens, a controversial practice that was illegal until 2008.

Mike:

That may sound great and all, but would it be better for the wolves to die slow deaths from starvation or a quick one from the end of a gun? Either way, the population has to be controlled somehow so unless you have a better method how about you leave this kind of stuff to biologists. These aren't "senseless killings" as you put it, merely a way to keep wolves from over hunting their own food supply. If wolves were in any danger of becoming threatened or extinct, then I'm sure there would have been an outcry, but as it stands you have not posted anything relating to that. As for Ashley Judd, I'm sure shes probably never lived in Alaska much less been there.

Allen:

Gotta agree with you on that Mike. That is why they have deer hunting season, fishing seasons, etc. But most bleeding hearts are against firearms and any chance they have, they spout off about it.

Lee Ward:

Boy - the Republican apologists are out en force...

If you guys actually read the posts once in a while you might be dangerous - as it is your belching is just right wing noise that the nation has learned to ignore.

MIke:

Dude, those pups would most likely have been dead anyways: http://www.newsminer.com/news/2008/jul/19/biologists-kill-wolf-pups-help-caribou-herd-popula/
This "extreme method" is not new and is necessary. I guess you're into the even more extreme method of population control via starvation? Like I said, how about leaving this to the experts, of which you clearly do not belong.

Mike:

Just to make clear, this has nothing to do whatsoever with me being a "republican apologist" it has to do with me being a biology student and my concern for people like you trying to tell qualified people how to do their job.

LiberalNightmare:

Sarah Palin pushes to control the wolf population, using aerial hunting and allowing hunters to kill the wolf pups in thier dens? Senseless wolf slaughter by a crazed governer!

Nancy Pelosi uses a bill designed to resucitate the american economy, to fund the act of killing human babies in the womb?
Just a loving Grandma trying to stimulate the economy.

Mike:

LiberalNightmare didn't you hear? Wolves are cute and fluffy and just want to be your friend; people destroy the environment so we're evil. Also didn't you know, it's double bonus evil points if it's Sarah Palin shooting mans best friend (not like she was the first). Apparently killing off human babies doesn't rate as an atrocity in this guys mind.

BPG:

I'm concerned about this obsession with Palin. The One won. Everybody else has moved on, but not you. Why?

bryanD:

If there are too many wolves they should be hunted. Not my bag of tea, but it's better than starvation, cannibalization, and so on. I like dog targets, myself. (Not what you may think):

It's so nice to see that Ashley Judd is using all the free time that she has to become an expert on game management. I would love to know how many Alaskan coastal and interior villages she has visited where they have a subsistence lifestyle. The villagers there are completely dependent upon healthy herds of moose and caribou to survive. Unlike her, I lived up there for more than 3 years and visited many of the coastal native villages. The people there respect the wildlife, but they depend on it as well. Predator species like wolf and bear are real threats that have to be managed. Too bad that reality isn't pretty enough not to offend Ms. Judd or Lee.

DaveD:

BPG, the obsession with Palin at this point is an attempt to draw our any discussion on this site away from the - putting it lightly - awkward start to the Obama administration.

Lee Ward:

DaveD - ODS will be prevalent across the the Wizbang network whether it's discussed here or only "over there"...

At this point, Sarah Palin is pushing hard to be a presidential choice in 2012. Those of us who know what a travesty what would be are pushing back.

What we do is in response to what she does - plain and simple.

Lee Ward:

Mike said: "Dude, those pups would most likely have been dead anyways... This "extreme method" is not new and is necessary."

According to eyonpalin.org - that's not the case, Mike. As the post above quotes...

Her state's Board of Game has even approved the killing of young wolf pups in or near their dens, a controversial practice that was illegal until 2008.

Are you saying that's not the case, that the killing of pups is not new, and wasn't illegal until 2008?

Like I said: "If you guys actually read the posts once in a while you might be dangerous."

Kev:

Take a wildlife management course sometime and learn about population control.

Lee Ward:

Take a reading comprehension course -- population control isn't at issue here.

The State of Alaska is killing wolf pups in their dens. Why? In order to protect the Caribou and Moose hunting interests. Fine - it's the methodology employed that is at issue - from the air, and killing pups in their dens.

Mike:

"Are you saying that's not the case, that the killing of pups is not new, and wasn't illegal until 2008?" That's right you get a gold star. I was saying exactly that. Read the article I posted that said Alaskan Natives used to do the same thing and the practice was called denning. How would you suggest they be killed, oh wait I already asked that and you can't provide an answer because you don't know what your blabbering about. They are going to be killed one way or another. Leave biology to biologists.

andrew:

"What we do is in response to what she does - plain and simple."

Actually the reason is that the Left is reactionary and is only comfortable when on the attack.

Lee Ward:

"Read the article I posted that said Alaskan Natives used to do the same thing and the practice was called denning."

Yeah, I know the natives used to do it - and it was called denning = that doesn't make it legal.

"They are going to be killed one way or another."

Killing the pups in their den is not a given.

Mike:

Well it's legal now so what's your point? I suppose starvation isn't a given as well considering the parents of the pups that were killed were tracked to those specific dens. Also I'm pretty sure dead wolves one way or another = a given.

Lee Ward:

It's legal because Palin and company made it legal - that's the point.

Palin is behind this - it's her fault.

Mike:

I would think the people really behind this are the biologists who made the recommendations in the first place that this need be done. Need I also reiterate, they are the experts. She may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but even Palin would need a reason in the first place to enact this sort of ordinance. Stop trying to make this a political issue, it's not. It's a way of game control, pure and simple and like it or not it has to be done one way or another. Would it be better that we should terrorize them even more by chasing after them in snowmobiles instead? Would it be better to let the pups die a slow, agonizing death scared, alone and hungry when their parents don't return?

LiberalNightmare:

Palin is behind this - it's her fault.

20. Posted by Lee Ward | February 4, 2009 4:14 PM

What exactly is her fault Lee? Is it Palins fault that the caribou population will rebound now that the wolf population is reduced?

What about the poor baby caribou? Are they somehow less deserving of your pity then the wolf pups that will grow up to eat them? Maybe they are republican caribou?

We know the whole point here is to distract from Obamas recent HR problems and the whole Stimulus crap sandwich - but could you at least try to make a comprehensive argument in support of your distractions?

davey:

My first trip to Wizbang Blue. Lee Ward, you are Comedic Gold.

Lee Ward:

Posts about Sarah Palin do attract new readers. Lots of them... and many are rabid Palin supporters who Google for disparaging articles about Sarah Palin then show up and crap on the comment thread.

Many are anti-abortion nutcakes - you know the kind who stalk abortion clinic doctors and the like. Real loonies...

DaveD:

So in reality you have nothing against Palin, you are just doing this because you have discovered this is the easiest way to attract new readers?

Lee Ward:

I love Sarah Palin - I love her so much I'm donating to her campaign.

Wolves are a close relative of dogs, and deserve a humane capture, not senseless death.

steve:

Wolf population control is common sense regardless of how "mean" it appears to the untrained sheep that follow current media hype.

And ANYONE who has ever been to Alaska should understand why the using of aircraft is the only practical application. Those that haven't have no business commenting on it, they are idiots.

The more interesting line here is IF Sara is such a hopeless idiot and so radically right wing as to be dangerous, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ALL SO AFRAID OFF?? Clearly she wont be electable.

The rabid wacko rhetoric is almost as mind numbing and senseless as the constant Bush Bashing of the last 8 years.

It appears more likely that the left fears her, precisely because she is more centrist than they want to believe

Mike:

So Paul, does that mean you want to tell Chinese people that dog is off their menu because they're eating mans best friend? Relative of dogs or not, the wolves are getting a "humane death"- a quick one at the end of a gun instead of a slow one from eventual starvation when their predator-prey pendulum relationship with their food source swings in their direction and there is no more food left and most of them die off. Just think how much money is being saved, especially in these hard economic times by killing wolves with guns instead of capturing them and gassing them like we do stray dogs.

Lee Ward:

"The more interesting line here is IF Sara is such a hopeless idiot and so radically right wing as to be dangerous, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ALL SO AFRAID OFF?? Clearly she wont be electable."

Bring her on... donate money to her campaign.

Who says Democrats are afraid?
