Morality In Media Endorses Communist Crackdown On Free Speech

The far right New York based Morality In Media organization has voiced support for the recent Chinese Communist Party crackdown on free speech in China. Under the phony guise of a crackdown on Internet based sexually oriented websites, the Chinese Communist Party used the recent purge to roll back Internet search freedoms opened up during the 2008 Summer Olympics that allowed reporters open access to their home news sites to report Olympic coverage. Major Internet search engines such as Google were forced by the Chinese Communists to issue apologies and to comply with their political repression and roll back of press freedoms.tian square.jpg

It is outrageous when far right organizations such as Morality In Media voice support for the type of political repression that is still common in China despite more open trade with the United States and the world community. But antidemocratic elements of all types, whether they be the Chinese Communists, or American far right organizations such as Morality In Media all thrive by keeping people ignorant, ill informed and in the dark. These sort of intellectual dictators all trade in ignorance, lies and deceptions to peddle their control of people's intellectual freedoms. Whether they be foreign Communist officials, or American far right figures, they are all the same sort of ruthless elements who want to control other people and they all view a free press and democracy as a great danger to their shallow political power which is completely built on lies and deceptions.

It was certainly hoped the Summer Olympics would have permanently opened up more press freedom in China. However, with more Chinese accessing political information via search engines such as Google since the Olympics, Chinese Communist Party Government police agencies became fearful of losing political power with more Chinese residents than ever searching Western websites. Even searches of sexually oriented websites by millions of Chinese meant that many Chinese were beginning to question the repressive government official cultural morality as well.

The Chinese Communists were fearful of losing power and perhaps facing more Tienanmen Square type protest incidents in the future. And the Chinese Communist Party officials who are living lives of wealth and privilege, while most Chinese toil for low wages, were fearful of losing their position of power within Chinese society. Many Chinese Communist Party officials profit from all of the corporate and trade arrangements with the West, where corruption is still a major problem in this country. And the Chinese Communists are always fearful about how the Soviet Communists lost their power after Russian leader Gorbachev opened up his society somewhat and more press freedom to be critical of the government was tolerated.

One thing is pretty clear though, both the Chinese Communists and the American Morality In Media organization both fear press freedom and democracy as dangerous to their own goals of political control and economic privilege. Like their Chinese Communist counterparts, the leadership of Morality In Media live very well off of over $600,000 a year in political donations as well some $150,000 taxpayer funded federal government cash grants slipped into some spending bills by Republican Congressman Frank Wolf of Virginia. Fascists of all political stripes have much more in common with each other than not.

paul, 2 things: 1) could you PLEASE PLEASE learn how to include links in your postings? I would actually like to go read what you are talking about. and 2) who the hell are Morality in Media? i've never heard of them except from you.

Hello Ke. Morality In Media is a small New York based right organization largely run just by just one New York lawyer, Robert Peters, who collects over $600,000 a year in donations as well as some $150,000 public fund grants from the taxpayer thanks to Congressman Frank Wolf of Virginia who has slipped several such grants into numerous spending bills. Congressman Wolf has a website where almost anyone with any sort of organization, no matter how worthless, can get resources on how to get free government grants. Wolf's $150,000 grant to Morality In Media was supposed to fund a crackdown on supposed Internet obscenity violations such as unwanted porn spam Emails, however not one single obscenity prosecution actually resulted from this large taxpayer funded grant as every Internet business targeted by Morality In Media was a lawful and legal business and all were dealing in constitutionally protected speech that Morality In Media paid just one retired policeman to investigate part time.

Robert Peters, the head of Morality In Media writes extensively. However he often sends threatening letters to legal businesses that might actually constitute extortion offenses because he demands that they remove certain sexually oriented or sexually suggestive products that he doesn't personally approve of or he might push for their arrests on some sort of obscenity charges. Peters' conduct might even constitute civil racketeering as well, as he uses phony and absurd crime cause and effect information to solicit for donations via mail and the Internet, which might constitute wire or mail fraud. Peters actually forced many supermarkets to cover up or stop selling popular women's magazines such as COSMOPOLITAN because Peters objected to some of the stories on the cover of the magazine.

Peters is essentially a screwball that runs a one-man crusade against anything sexually suggestive or slightly crude or offensive, however most of this is all legal and constitutionally protected speech that he constantly attacks by his endless harassment tactics.

On the Morality In Media website, Peters posts his threatening letters to organizations such as the AARP because their last newsletter had one tiny ad by a company that sold "Better Sex" videos for senior citizens or his absurd praise for the Chinese Communists after they cracked down on the free speech that was opened up during the Olympics by the world press. The Chinese Communists used the public cover of a anti-pornography campaign to actually roll back search freedom on popular sites such as Google. All of the Chinese Communist police agencies involved were the same ones used for domestic spying on political dissidents or jailing political prisoners in this crackdown. Peters is an idiot to praise this.

Peters always makes absurd unscientific claims of a cause and effect between media sex or violence and rape or sex crimes. However real science sharply disputes the claims of Peters. He's simply a nut job who makes his money by harassing perfectly legal businesses and making threats that he'll seek their arrest unless they give in to his extortion demands.

Peters has been a guest on shows such as LARRY KING LIVE, where he has attacked popular TV shows such as QUEER AS FOLK, once again claiming that society is going to fall down and the kingdom lost unless the country gives in to his demands and bans TV shows like that.

Ironically it is actually Peters who is without any morality, where no absurd lie is too great to tell to help to solicit more donations, public grants, in the service of trying to impose his will on others. Peters' organization was actually founded by a far right Catholic priest who died, yet Peters has never once had even one statement attacking the serious widespread child abuse scandal in this church. Peters always blames the media for causing child abuse or violence, but just won't blame his sex abuser friends in the Catholic faith for anything, no matter how horrible it really is. Peters is the ultimate in laughable lying hypocrites and certainly warrants a story or two to counter all of his noise he makes about the media.

he does sound a bit extreme. mind you, i can understand people being concerned with pornography and violence in our culture. but people need to respect the bill of rights. the proper response to offensive speech is more speech. i don't know who said that, but it's one of my favorites.

i'm going to harp on you again about putting links in your posts. you write these long, long, long posts a lot. you put a lot of detail in them. but you never link to your sources. it would really help to have those links so that your readers could see what, exactly, it is that you are writing on. just a suggestion, but as a long time reader, i have to say that reading you can be frustrating at times because i don't know the background of what you are ranting about.

Thanks Ke. I can understand how you feel that links add to the background on features. I'm just not that expert with all things html, but I suppose I can always learn.

I certainly appreciate your constructive ideals. I always appreciate your comments. You're a thoughtful guy. I certainly respect your opinions on any topic.

Doubting Thomas:

Paul -

You should just be able to put the raw link in - http://wizbangblue.com/2009/02/20/morality-in-media-endorses-communist-crackdown-on-free-speech.php#c876661 and the browser will automagically parse out the link.

Failing that, Tinyurl.com is a great service - they'll take a long URL and shorten it considerably... http://tinyurl.com/bt2hbm for the link above. Only problem is that they seem to expire after a while - I think 3 to 6 months.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Doubting Thomas for that html formula. You're a real gentleman. I always think your Internet code name, "Doubting Thomas" is very clever as well. That's a very intelligent and thought-provoking code name in my view. Questioning the existing norms is always healthy.
