It speaks for itself:
Some govern - some just say "NO" and hope the nation will fail.
Thucy2:
Actually, the bill was called "The Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009." A major focus was to make up for decades of neglect to our infrastructure since the 1980s, including our public health sector.3.000 people died on 9-11, which was a major economic shock. In the flu pandemic of 1919, 50 million died worldwide, a half million in the US (when the population was half what it is now).
You don't think a repeat of a disaster like that might affect the economy at least a little?

"All those little porky things that the House put in, the money for the [National] Mall or the sexually transmitted diseases or the flu pandemic, they're all out," Chuck Schumer (D) said.
Is that Democratic Stupidity in high gear? Why didn't you mention that?

When House Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, the Wisconsin Democrat who has long championed investment in pandemic preparation, included roughly $900 million for that purpose in this year's emergency stimulus bill, he was ridiculed by conservative operatives and congressional Republicans. How do the repugs defend their cutting the money from the budget in the light of this outbreak? Calling it the work of Al Qaeda isn't going to cut it. So this is a fall they're going to be nailed with.

Allen, Susan Collins may be a congressional 'Republican', but she sure as hell isn't a conservative operative. I wouldn't worry about her getting any negative press from this. All she has to do is make a big deal out of voting against the Republicans and with the Dems, and she'll be fine. Stimulus, anyone?

Of course Lee is wrong again, but that's nothing new. And Allen apparently chooses to disregard a Democrat Senator's comments when writing his tripe.
Just see here at the Daily Kos even:
So the money was allocated after all in a later bill. Susan Collins and Schumer were right to say this was not stimulus. GWB wanted money for these preparations as well.
Wow Lee, that's a monumental screw-up even for you!
