Conservative GOP Asshats on Parade

Since the White Wing blogosphere is yukking it up over Wanda Sykes' humor why don't we see what passes for humor among the exclusive 20% of Americans that still self-identify as Republicans.

CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty apologized Sunday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for a morbid joke that went bad in a Dallas magazine.[...]

"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this though," Feherty wrote toward the end of his column.

"Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death."

Hilarious...

Mac Lorry:

If David Feherty had been the "talent" at the White House Correspondents' dinner and made that joke then you might have a point. Just finding a crass joke somewhere about some democrats is not equivalent to what Wanda Sykes did. Actually, I like Obama's joke comparing Biden to the White House dog.

ke_future:

damn, lee. why is it that every time somebody points out something that some liberal or leftist did that was wrong, instead of just owning up, you have to go dig up some lesser counter example from the right? can't we all just agree that both examples are wrong?

Tim:

At least Feherty apologized. When do you suppose Sykes is going to? I wouldn't hold my breath. And oddly enough, I haven't read any glowing reviews of Feherty's humor with titles like, oh, I don't know: "Feherty makes short work of Barak Obama and Nancy Pelosi." Which is good, because that would be crass and tasteless.

Lee Ward:

"can't we all just agree that both examples are wrong?"

I don't see anything wrong with either of them. It's comedy and satire. Roll with it.

What's wrong is the right's reaction to Sykes. Waaay over the top.

The GOP has lost it's rudder, and it's drifting from one whine to the next. The only thing they are accomplishing is irrelevance. Whining about what Sykes said is petty.

I get it... you guys are doing what you falsely characterized Democrats as doing during the Bush administration.

The problem is... you were wrong then, and you're wrong now - but please ignore me, call me names, and keeping on doing what you're doing, you lugheads.

ke_future:

only reason i ever call you names, lee, is because you can't seem to ever make a post without either vitriol or insults. i figure turn about is fair play.

and you may think these examples are fine. i don't. especially given the forum in which these two spoke. the fact that you don't see anything wrong with either says a lot about you, lee. also, i don't think that sykes was particularly kidding when she said what she did.

ummm, what exactly are you talking about that we falsely charactorized democrats of doing during the bush admin?

by the way, i'm right more often than i am wrong. but i know i make mistakes. when was the last time you ever admitted you were wrong, lee?

Heralder:

If Obama had had the balls to bring in Dennis Miller to roast him that would have been enjoyable.

After all, I seem to remember Stephen Colbert doing one for Bush, and it was certainly a roast. Didnt really find as much of it funny, but it was entertaining in its own way.

As for some CBS Golf Analyst making some remark in an interview, huh. I guess he was your big Republican humor font. Don't pull a muscle Lee.

Tim:

Lee, if you fail to see where wishing for someone who never harmed anyone to die is wrong and not funny, then I really don't know what's wrong with you.

Rich Fader:

David Feherty is, of course, an idiot, self-admitted. (As in the title of his book, "Somewhere In Ireland, A Village Is Missing...") But apparently not too big an idiot to apologize. Unlike Wanda Sykes.
