John Edwards' New Orleans Withdrawal Speech

"I began my presidential campaign here to remind the country that we, as citizens and as a government, have a moral responsibility to each other, and what we do together matters. We must do better, if we want to live up to the great promise of this country that we all love so much. It is appropriate that I come here today. It's time for me to step aside so that history can blaze its path. We do not know who will take the final steps to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but what we do know is that our Democratic Party will make history. Edwards Dropping Out of the Race

I'll update this development with more news and my thoughts on what this means in the race as soon as I have time, but initially my reaction is that this is good news for Democrats in that it will allow voters to focus on the two most-likely candidates, and will let us see a truer depiction of which of those two holds the most sway among Democrats, and represents the ideals we want to carry forth and represent us in November's general election.

Buoyed by widespread support among African American voters who are planning to participate in the Democratic Party primary here, Obama wins 41% support, compared to 26% for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and 19% for former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards. Clinton and Edwards are splitting the support of white voters, who make up about half of the total Democratic electorate here.

If He Really Wants to Change America, it is Time for John Edwards to Go

I confess, John Edwards has never really excited me. I think the problem is that his brash, confrontational, tax the rich, I'm for 'the other America' is hypocritical and inauthentic, given the way he has milked the system to personally...

What's Wrong with Mudslinging? It Depends on Who is Throwing?

Just as Democratic candidates have been having a simmering spat about mudslinging, I have been waging a friendly 'battle of wits' over the use of this tactic with my pal and colleague, Lee Ward. Mudslinging was first raised in a...
