Governor Rendell was a big help to Clinton in Pennsylvania, and Clinton needs the same kind of boost in North Carolina, and it looks like Governor Easley will provide that boost. A person close to North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley...

It's become quite predictable, the way in which the Obama campaign has managed and released the endorsements during the campaign. Every time Barack's ass ends up in hot water the campaign rolls out another high-profile endorsement. When Obama flubbed, flailed and failed miserably in last Wednesday Philadelphia debate... Shazam!, former Clinton White House notable Robert Reich's endorsement of Barack Obama is announced. The fact is that Reich has been excoriating Clinton for months now, and the endorsement was kept in the campaign's pocket and deployed when it could do them the most good. So when an endorsement is hidden and not announced... that's noteworthy too, and that's what we're seeing now with Jimmy Carter's endorsement of Barack Obama.

I'll update this development with more news and my thoughts on what this means in the race as soon as I have time, but initially my reaction is that this is good news for Democrats in that it will allow voters to focus on the two most-likely candidates, and will let us see a truer depiction of which of those two holds the most sway among Democrats, and represents the ideals we want to carry forth and represent us in November's general election.

Rumor has it that the New York Times will endorse Hillary Clinton in an editorial this weekend. I don't think this will have much effect on South Carolina, but it could give Clinton a boost further down the road. UPDATE: Reuters confirms the endorsement and reports the NYT's is endorsing John McCain on the GOP side.

I'm talking about Rick Perry, the ultra-conservative Governor of Texas, who endorsed Rudy "the New York Liberal" Giuliani yesterday -- ignoring the fact that Giuliani's values and stands on a number of key issues run counter to Perry's own stated...
